Transformation Violet #2

6″ x  8″ x ¾”deep, on stretched canvas

acrylic pieces added to a small textured canvas

This small painting is a collage of separate acrylic paint pieces.  The process is completely serendipitous!  Paper-thin pieces are made by pressing a dab of acrylic paint on creased palette paper, to produce a mirror image.  Dried pieces are scraped off with a razor blade, combined to compose a butterfly-like image, and glued to the textured canvas.  A coat of gel medium is applied over the entire canvas.  Stricking deep hues of violet, orange and red.
