The Five Cocoons
11″ x 14″ on unstretched canvas
acrylic, original hand-woven linen textile, wire, on unstretched canvas
While experimenting with different paint colors to use on this woven textile, it was pressed on blank papers to make the background for other pieces in the 100 Parts in 100 Days series. This scarf helped earn me an “honors” grade in an Introduction to Weaving class at Mass. College of Art and Design! Weaving is such an interesting metaphor for connection and family. The five cocoons represent my four brothers and I.
